Frequently Asked Questions
Who are we?
We are a group of like-minded storytellers living in or around Highlands County, Florida. In the spirit of The Moth, Snap Judgement, and The International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, TN, we share true stories about the complex state of humankind.
What is the mission of Highlands Storytelling Association?
Highlands County, Florida, is home to a curious and diverse population of snowbirds, locals, students, nomads, lost Disney adults, sightseers, HVAC mechanics, bikers, Miami escapees, and jazz musicians. In short, we want to bring people together over funny, poignant, and dramatic true stories. We tell stories on a variety of themes about our shared humanity as seen through the lens of the central Florida savannah.
I want to attend a storytelling event. When is the next performance?
Our inaugural storytelling show will be in Winter 2026 in Sebring, Florida. More information will be available on this website and social media this fall.
Can I tell a story at your next show?
Yes! We are always looking for people with a story to share, no matter if you’re an experienced teller or are new to the art form. While we don’t have an “open mic” option at our shows, we at Highlands Storytelling Association will hear story pitches on a specific theme.
